Custom Entertainment Center Styles
Entertainment centers from big box stores often seem like a one-size fits all style. However, there are numerous styles available, both big and small, for you to customize to your needs, such as:
- Recessed – Recessed entertainment centers are built into your wall to give you more room to move around. These can fill part of all of one wall and include everything you’d have in more traditional entertainment centers.
- Armoire – This stand-alone style works well in smaller spaces or if you want more compact media storage in other rooms. TVs, gaming systems, computers, and other electronics are neatly tucked away behind stylish closed doors. Media and accessories can be stored in a drawer at the base.
- Wall style – This style includes custom shelves and cabinets that fill most of a wall. The TV is usually centered. Often, this style organizes electronics, books, knick-knacks, and more.
- Bookcases – If you prefer hanging your TV, custom bookcases along each side serve as the entertainment center. Often, a small base cabinet connects the two bookcases.
- Corner centers – This style works great for smaller areas, including play rooms and bedrooms. As the name implies, these take advantage of corners to optimize your storage space while organizing your media and electronics.
- Completely open – This style features shelves and no doors or drawers. If you want more on display, this is the best option.
- Completely covered – If you hate how dusty things get, opt for this style. Doors and drawers keep everything covered when you’re not using it. Vented panels help dissipate any heat from electronics in stand-by mode.
- Sliding doors and panels – This is ideal for more vintage or country style rooms. Instead of traditional cabinet doors, panels slide back and forth to expose various areas.
- Mobile – This style works well for small areas. Everything fits neatly in a cabinet-style cart with cables hidden in the back for easy connections when moved into the desired position. When not in use, it looks like a living room cabinet.
- Floating – Instead of the traditional cabinet look, floating entertainment centers appear to float in the room. Elevated cabinets and shelves never touch the floor. This is perfect for modern, contemporary, and minimalist themes.
- Fitted fireplace – This style is made to fit around fireplaces to create a seamless look between the entertainment center and fireplace. Often, these are recessed and molding is designed to match the mantle. The custom design ensures the center always fits around the fireplace.
