When it comes to selecting the right design style for your kitchen cabinets, there are several types of designs you can choose from that will most appropriately fit the type of kitchen you envision:
Country/ Rustic – One of the most popular cabinet choices throughout North Carolina, Country kitchen cabinets focus on accentuating woods such as maple, hickory, and oak through paints, stains, and glazing. Rustic and Country kitchen cabinets also tend to use beadboards, raised panel doors, and decorative clear or stained glass panels, and sometimes even wire mesh or tin to further add a country feel.
Modern / Contemporary – Sleek and minimalist, mostly flat surfaces with very few fixtures. Maple wood is the preferred choice of wood since the cabinets are painted, but the cabinets can also be made of composites. It’s the perfect choice for small kitchens since it utilizes every inch of space possible for storage. Popular colors tend to be blacks, whites, and greys.
Shaker – Shaker cabinets are most notably known by their “five-piece” design, which has flat panel doors with a frame consisting of 2 horizontal pieces known as rails, and 2 vertical pieces known as stiles. Much like the Modern and Contemporary kitchen cabinets, Shaker cabinets lean toward sleek and minimalist designs in favor of an aesthetic that is simple and functional, but unlike Modern and Contemporary cabinets, Shaker cabinets are composed of woods most often found in the Northeastern United States, such as maple, cherry, hickory, and oak.
Traditional – Traditional kitchen cabinets focus on decorative adornments and embellishments such as moldings, raised panels, and arched designs. Borrowing from the elaborate motif from European design, Traditional kitchen cabinets are designed to add a formal atmosphere to your kitchen.
