Custom Laundry and Mudroom Cabinet Styles

While stock cabinets give you some basic organization and storage, they don’t always fit the space correctly. Plus, they might not fit well with larger washers and dryers. Get the exact look and function you want by trying these custom laundry and mudroom cabinet styles:

Combination laundry and mudroom – This style combines both your laundry and mudroom. Typically, cabinets are built around the washer and dryer. Open cabinets with shelves and even a bench at the bottom are either across from or beside the washer and dryer to serve as the mudroom. While often more compact in smaller areas, it’s effective if you don’t have room for both types of rooms individually.
Locker room style – For mudroom cabinets, this style is ideal for organizing items for multiple people. Tall, locker-style cabinets feature individual hanging areas. You can also add shelving along the top and bottom or even a bench along the bottom.
Minimalist – This is the simplest custom design. It usually features a countertop above the washer and dryer for treating and folding clothing. The mudroom area might only be upper or lower cabinets with a few hooks for hanging items. A storage bench adds a bit more personality.
Sunken design – A sunken area makes room for hanging items, seating area, or even sewing area to repair clothing.
Kitchen style – This style makes your laundry and mudroom look more like a kitchen. These usually include a sink, countertop, top/bottom cabinets, and a washer and dryer in place of a stove and dishwasher. Most cabinets, even in the mudroom, look more like a traditional kitchen. This works well if your laundry and mudroom are right off your kitchen to create a seamless experience.
Beadboard cabinets – This cabinet door style adds beauty and flair no matter what your overall style might be.
Shaker cabinets – Shaker is a classic cabinet door style featuring five-piece doors. It works with nearly any laundry and mudroom design.
Flat cabinets – If you’re opting for the minimalist design, flat cabinet doors work perfectly. Sometimes, they don’t even have door handles.
Distressed cabinets – Create a cottage or vintage look with distressed cabinet doors.

Common Cabinet Wood Types

While pre-fabricated stock cabinets look nice at first, they don’t last nearly as long as natural woods. Plywood and veneers simply don’t hold up as well in a hot and humid environment near your home’s entrances or laundry area. Edgewood Cabinetry prefers using natural woods, such as mahogany, cherry, pine, oak, hickory, and maple. These also add a natural beauty to your room.
