Edgewood Custom Cabinetry

The time was…….

The form and function of bathrooms have changed significantly over the past two decades. While newer homes feature bathrooms the size of a small bedroom, houses built 20-30 years ago typically have bathrooms about 4X8 feet. No matter if your space is the size of a closet or a good-sized  10X12, if it is old and dated, now is a good time to refresh that tired space.

The upside of an average size bathroom is you can afford to splurge on the furnishings. Contact us and be amazed at the design possibilities that are available.

Quality cabinetry is so much more than form and function. Today’s look is classic and timeless. Make your outdated bath a luxury retreat – we have a line of cabinets for every style and budget.

The devil is always in the details. Don’t forget to include:

  • Framed mirrors
  • Amazing shower heads
  • Modern light fixtures

Even with limited square footage, you can create a one of a kind showplace. After all, the bathroom is probably one of the most used rooms in your home. Why not enjoy it?

The time is……..

Now. You have grown to love your home, it has served you well for many years, and you plan to stay put. The problem is, now you have grown older too. The aging process has brought with it health issues, like limited range of motion. Looking down the road, maybe in the not too distant future, you foresee possibly even needing adaptive equipment like a walker. Renovating a bathroom, with “aging in place” in mind, does not mean your home needs to take on the look of a nursing home.

Renovating for adaptability requires specific modifications as well as long-range planning. Raising the height of vanities eliminates bending to use a sink. Custom cabinets are the solution. This is your opportunity to be as daring and creative as your budget allows. A custom design also utilizes every square inch of space. At Edgewood Cabinetry, we have experts ready to help you.

As we age, getting in and out of a bathtub becomes problematic. As long as you have a secondary bathroom with a bathtub ( important if resale of the home would ever become necessary), consider removing the tub altogether and opting for a walk in, zero threshold shower. When fitted with permanent grab bars and bench seating, this option will ensure better safety. Some additional suggestions for making a bathroom safer for seniors are:

  •  Replacing the door with a swing out model. Falls are common with older folks,, especially in a bathroom. Falling against a closed swing-in door inhibits access for rescue personnel.
  • Consider having a telephone line installed. This may seem like a luxury only found in upscale hotels, but having access to a phone is important in the event of an emergency. After all, only teenagers carry a cellphone everywhere they go.
