spice rack pull out-edgewood custom cabinetry Clayton nc

A meal without seasonings is not very appetizing, and a kitchen without a multitude of spices is more than likely non-existent.

Even the non-cooks among us have a handful of  the basics.

So just where does one keep the collection of bottles and tins that seem to accumulate?

Best stored in a cool dry area of the kitchen, spices keep, and look, best when stored in uniform containers. Glass is preferable, and will prevent the flavors from being muddled. Inexpensive and readily available, glass bottles and jars come in a wide variety of sizes. If you are a DIY crafter baby food jars can be recycled, and even tic-tac containers will work if plastic is your preference.

Retro-fitted drawers, open shelving, slide out cabinets, organizer inserts or magnetic strips on a backsplash; spice storage is definitely something every kitchen needs. A relatively small space and a little imagination are all you need to make a change, make a difference and make a space for all those spices.

Mix it up and spice up (yes, pun intended) a small wall space by adding a custom cabinet painted in a vibrant color. No matter what materials your basic cabinetry is made of, adding a “pop of color” gives any kitchen a fresh new look.

Add a custom rack to the inside of an existing cabinet door. This is an affordable option that requires no additional space. A standard cabinet door can easily accommodate a four or five shelf rack that will keep your spices all together and readily accessible.

Is there a small amount of space beside your refrigerator? It only takes a few inches to incorporate a roll-out shelf specifically designed for all your boxes and tins. Easy to reach when you need them, and out of sight when you don’t.

Do you have a collection of beautiful spice bottles? Make them part of the décor and show them off. Have a dedicated shelf installed directly under your upper cabinets.

If budget is not an issue, open up a wall, between the studs, and build in a floor to ceiling recessed cabinet that can be closed off with sliding doors, or even a barn door.
