Understanding the Benefits of Custom Cabinets in a Living Space

There is a growing trend in people personalizing their houses to meet their needs. The growing trend is with custom cabinets in Raleigh, NC. You might be wondering what benefits a custom cabinet could give you that a normal one cannot. It is clear right off the bat that a custom cabinet is more expensive in comparison to normal cabinets and semi-custom ones. However, they offer a longer shelf life, the extra storage that you want, and can add a lot of character to the home.

Cabinet Materials Matter

Most people assume that the term ‘custom cabinets’ means that they are better than the rest. The quality of the cabinet depends on the material used to make it. This is what people like most; they the choice of selecting long-lasting materials instead of settling for readymade cabinets that are made out of low-quality materials. The readymade cabinets are known as stock cabinets and they are the cheaper option since they are displayed on the shelf waiting for the consumers to purchase them and affix. Semi-custom cabinets are partially built before a person makes an order. They are slightly unfinished in order for the customer to personalize it some. Below are some of the benefits of selecting a custom cabinet in Raleigh, NC for your home.

Benefits of a Custom Cabinet

  1. Vintage style custom kitchen cabinetPersonalization: They fit the unique design of the room, storage preferences, cooking habits, and design preferences and lifestyle of the person. Stock cabinets are average and are the best fit for averagely designed spaces. If your home is unique or you want to make it that way, they custom cabinets are for you.
  2. Fit the space: If space has an odd or abnormal shape, the last thing you should think about doing is trying to fit a stock cabinet. A custom cabinet by Edgewood Cabinetry is bound to meet your needs and fit the required space. They are built to fit right where you want them, rather than having to adjust them to get them to fit where you want.
  3. Choice of materials: You can customize the cabinet further by choosing the materials that will be used to make it. You have the option of choosing the finish, style and wood used to make it. If you choose to use semi-custom and stock cabinets, you just won’t have this option. If you want to have more control over the design of your home, custom cabinets are what you need.
  4. Increased storage space: Not all cabinets have the same amount of storage space available. Limiting yourself to pre-fabricated cabinets could leave you lacking a lot of the storage space that you desperately wanted. The beauty of a custom cabinet is that you can measure the space and make cabinets that fit any space, even if it is abnormally large or small. It also gives you the chance to get creative, you could decide to set up abnormally long cabinetry or add more cabinets. They are YOUR cabinets.

Choosing Quality Cabinets

When you add cabinets to your kitchen, bathroom or other areas of your home, you want them to last for years and possibly generations to come.

Choosing quality cabinets isn’t as easy as just picking what looks pretty or fits the best. Instead, it’s about things like the type of wood used and how much weight the drawers support.

While higher quality cabinets may cost more, they’re more cost-effective because they’ll far outlast their cheaper counterparts. Plus, it’s easy to have these cabinets custom built to match your every storage need.

Solid Wood Frames

Your door frames are going to deal with a lot of wear and tear. They hold the door front together and attach to the cabinet itself. Using solid wood means you won’t have to deal with the swelling that comes with using particle board. This is especially true when it comes to kitchen and bathroom cabinets where humidity may cause particle board to warp, ruining how easily your doors open and close.

Look to see if the frames are joined perfectly. If you’re working with a custom cabinet builder, ask how they connect the frame pieces. While screws are quick, they can cause the frame to wear down faster. Higher quality cabinets use joints, dowels and glue to make all the corners meet flush and stay together through constant use. Some even use custom mortise and tenon joints, which is a true sign of high-quality cabinets.

Solid Wood Door Fronts

When choosing quality cabinets, look for solid wood door fronts. Not only will this perfectly match the frame, but will extend the life of the door itself. Using particle board or other alternatives will cause the door to wear out much faster, especially if the door is near a sink. Plus, if you spill something on the wood, it’s easier to clean quickly without causing permanent damage.

Plywood Or Solid Wood Interiors

A common cost-saving measure in cheaper cabinets, especially pre-fabricated cabinets, is to use thin particle board for the interior panels. The shelves are typically a thicker particle board designed to withstand more weight. However, this material gives over time, leaving you with sags and dents within your cabinets.

If you want cabinets that support more weight for decades, look for plywood or solid wood interiors. While solid wood is the best option, you can save money and still get quality cabinets by opting for plywood interiors. These last well with normal use and still look great.

Supportive Drawers

How many times have you seen a drawer give under the weight of silverware or beauty supplies? Low-quality cabinets may only support 5-10 pounds before you have trouble opening them. The cheaper materials used for the interiors give easily and cause the drawer to warp when much weight is put inside it.

When choosing quality cabinets, look for plywood or solid wood interiors designed to support more weight. Some may even support 50 pounds or more. While you might not need that much support, it’s always best to have more support than you need. Plus, this makes them last longer and slide out smoother.

Smoothly Opening Doors And Drawers

Speaking of drawers that slide out easily, the best cabinets have doors and drawers that open with zero problems. While choosing quality cabinets won’t prevent an overstuffed drawer from getting stuck, the glides used on the drawers ensure they slide out with ease and don’t sag even when they’re filled. Without the right hardware, you’re going to be left trying to deal with sticky drawers or worse.

The same holds true with your doors. Not only does using solid wood make them stronger, but the hardware used to connect them should easily support the door itself without any wobbling. The hardware should also be strong enough to support baskets or hanging items weighing at least a few pounds or more without any trouble.

Warranties

Finally, when choosing quality cabinets, look for a warranty. For instance, at Edgewood Cabinetry, we provide a five-year warranty that protects against defects due to workmanship or the materials as long as it’s due to normal use. Quality cabinets are designed to stand the test of time and regular use. Without a warranty, this is showing you the maker doesn’t believe in the durability of the cabinet.

Choosing Kitchen Cabinets

Choosing kitchen cabinets often feels overwhelming. With so many choices, where do you even start?

While you could just browse Pinterest and home improvement blogs (which are both great ways to compare styles), it’s also a good idea to create an initial checklist to help narrow your options.

The one important thing to remember is you should always pick what’s best for you in the long term. After all, high-quality kitchen cabinets can last a lifetime or more.

1. Cabinet Door Styles

While it is important to think of things like what type of wood and finish you want, a top consideration when choosing kitchen cabinets is your cabinet door style. Your doors are the focal point of your cabinets. Choosing a door style can change the entire theme of your kitchen.

The Spruce lists eight of the most common varieties, but you’re always free to try something different or even mix styles together to create your own. For instance, you might mix glass insert doors with slab style doors for a modern, yet minimalist style kitchen.

2. Function Of Cabinets

Function should always be a consideration. For instance, an open shelving theme isn’t going to work well with cabinets that are going to be used for canned goods, stacks of cookies and snacks and other items that may make your kitchen seem more cluttered than organized.

If counter space is more important than storage space, you might choose to have your top cabinets much shorter to allow for taller appliances to sit on the counter. If you tend to use numerous smaller items, you may want cabinets with more drawers than shelves.

When considering function, also consider the layout. After all, the layout makes it easier to accomplish what you want. HGTV lists six popular layouts that will guide you in choosing your own.

3. Style Of Your Kitchen

Choosing kitchen cabinets isn’t quite as difficult if you know what the style of your kitchen is. Of course, if you’re doing a remodel, you may have plans to change all that. However, your cabinets should match your kitchen’s style. For instance, if you want a more rustic look, you wouldn’t want more ornate cabinet doors and bright white finishes. You probably wouldn’t have oddly shaped cabinets, such as corner cabinets.

If you’re scratching your head and trying to figure out a theme, don’t worry. Before you shop or work with a designer, check out these styles from Houzz and Cabin Life.

4. Mixing With Hardware

Usually, hardware is the last thing anyone thinks about. But, think about how much of a style impact door and drawer handles make. You can take basic slab style doors and drawer faces and spice them up with vintage hardware or funky pop culture/hobby style hardware. For instance, if you’re creating a farmhouse theme, you might play around a bit with farm animal and tool shaped hardware.

5. Custom Sizes And Shapes

Stock cabinets are wonderful, especially when you’re in a hurry, such as after major water damage from your dishwasher fritzing out. However, choosing kitchen cabinets doesn’t mean you have to settle for standard sizing only. Custom kitchen cabinets are ideal for anyone who needs special sizing and shapes. For instance, maybe you need a cabinet that’s three inches shorter than all your other top cabinets to place your espresso machine under. You might have a corner where you want a large free-standing cabinet that functions much like an island.

6. Organization Style

Finally, think about your organization style. Do you want cabinets that offer more space on the outsides for hanging pans or something with custom shelving for stacking pots and pans? This is where custom cabinets really help. You’re able to get more organization options, such as various sizing for different types of items. You’re also able to mix and match styles a bit to create a theme that’s all your own. For instance, you may have two cabinets that are nothing but drawers and glass insert top cabinets for showcasing your best china.

Kitchens, generally considered the heart of the home,  are loved for the variety of customizations and different designs options you can fit into them! Just be sure to keep the rest of your home interior in mind when designing the kitchen, you want it to fit in with the rest of the house.

A well-designed kitchen not only saves you time any un-nessicary headaches, it just makes it more comfortable to operate in the space. Most people want everything to be in the right place and neatly stored away. Custom made kitchen cabinets can be expensive, but there are multiple advantages to designing them to fit into YOUR space.

  1. Offers multiple options.

When it comes to Edgewood cabinetry, the sky is the limit.  Since it is designed for your space and pace, you choose the type of wood, style, and finish of your cabinets. You can even decide on the specific storage/shelving hardware you want installed! Working directly with the cabinet designer/builder is a great way to guarantee that you get exactly what you envisioned. If you get a pre-built you may get kinda what you want, but it will never exactly meet your desires.

Although contractors aim to do quality work, jobs can quickly end up shoddy at times just due to miscommunication and simple errors that result from that. They may not capture the essence of your design, they may not even give you the options you want! At the end you very well may be disappointed, but it is too late to do much unless you want to start over (hint: you probably don’t). Dealing with the cabinet manufacturer gives you full control of the decisions to be made regarding the cabinets. Edgewood cabinetry manufacturers assist you in deciding the style, colors of floor and wall. From step 1 to step 100, they’re there! Think of it like this, for your project you’re the project lead. You decide what things look like, where they go, and pretty much everything directly dealing with you!

There are endless modifications possible for your designs. You can always change things around before they’re actually made to fit your family lifestyle and aesthetic value better.  Just make sure things are in a place where you like them when the process starts to wind down, last minute changes can be frustrating and you want the process to be as easy and nice as you can.

  1. Saves Space!

Who doesn’t need more space in their home? I know I’d love just a little bit more space in some areas. Custom cabinets can help you to save a ton of space in the house, mainly the kitchen you’re installing them in. If they’re designed right, they can fit a ton of things in them, saving you both from visible clutter and just general annoyance while trying to rememeber where something is that you had to move due to lack of space. After doing away with the soffits, monopolize the area and install a tall cabinet. Semi-custom cabinets go as high as 36,” but custom cabinets can be as high as 102”. With semi-custom cabinets, a lot of space is left horizontally, but customized customs maximize every bit of space possible. That’s the key with this whole custom cabinet thing, you’re maximizing your space and using it how YOU want to at the same time. Pretty amazing deal right?

  1. Perfect craftsmanshipHandcrafted Living Space

It takes a certain level of both craftsmanship and artistic style/ability to make a good set of custom cabinets. The craftsmen often plan on where drawers and such will go while even drawing up your cabinets, making sure no detail is left behind. Pieces of wood are cut to size and fit together, ensuring that they can slide right into place. The craftsmen prefer to use merged joints and dowels instead of nails, they give you a more clean overall look and make both assembly and dis-assembly easier.

  1. Environmental friendly

Ever heard, take care of mother nature, and she will take care of you? Custom cabinets are made using wood, a non-poisonous, semi-renewable, and biodegradable material. By working directly with the cabinet manufacturer, you can always ensure that the wood used has no adverse impacts on the environment. Some bulk-cabinet makers will use lower quality materials and things that may even contain dangerous compounds. You don’t want that around your friends and family all the time, or even at all. Materials matter almost as much as craftsmanship, make sure you’re getting the best.

Conclusion

A well-organized space preserves your time, energy, and looks more appealing that the opposite. Custom cabinets assist you in getting and keeping your place organized. There are various storage space options in customized cabinets.  They help in altering the look of the space; modern cabinets can be modified to match the interior of the house also!

Replace Your Kitchen Cabinets

You’re looking around your kitchen and realize it’s time to make a choice. Should you try to repair or replace your kitchen cabinets?

In some cases, it’s actually better to just repair. For instance, if you just want a different door design, refacing the cabinets is better than replacing.

However, sometimes you have to completely replace them. In the end, it’s not only more cost-effective, but your kitchen will thank you.

1. There’s Noticeable Damage

Do you see noticeable chips in the wood? Are shelves bowed? Maybe the backs no longer stay attached to the wall like they should. When you start seeing noticeable damage, it’s a good sign that you should consider replacements. Even when you try to just repair them, major damages often mean there are other issues with the cabinets as well.

2. They’re Made Of Cheap Materials

If your home came with pre-fabricated cabinets or you had to buy something quick and cheap for a remodel, you’ll likely need to replace your kitchen cabinets relatively soon. Many cabinets have a realistic wood veneer over particle board. All it takes is a little heat, humidity and water to cause your cabinets to warp. Particleboard and fiberboard aren’t meant to last. If you’ve had your cabinets 5-10 years or had any water damage, it’s likely time to replace versus repair.

3. Recent Water Damage Or Mold

Even hardwoods aren’t meant to withstand major water damage. While they fare better than their cheaper counterparts, a roof or sink leak may ruin your cabinets beyond repair. Even if you don’t notice anything right away, you may begin to notice a smell. This means the water has seeped into the wood and you may even have mold and mildew behind the cabinets.

4. They Don’t Offer Enough Space

Sometimes you just need more space. While expert organizational strategies are helpful, you might need to replace your kitchen cabinets to take better advantage of the space you have available. You can have custom made kitchen cabinets designed specifically for your space and needs. This allows you to store more without anything feeling cluttered.

5. The Doors Can’t Be Refaced

Anytime the doors can’t be refaced, it’s a sign you should replace your kitchen cabinets. Usually, this means you have more damage beyond the doors themselves. The material might be sub-par and even if you have new doors made, they won’t fit correctly with your existing cabinets.

If it’s easy to reface the doors and get the look you want, that’s a great place to start. However, if it just feels like you’re putting a Band-Aid on a bigger issue, replace instead.

6. Your Kitchen Needs A New Layout

Are you looking for a completely new layout? Don’t try to just make your old cabinets fit. This just hinders your creativity and limits what you’re able to do. Instead, start fresh and replace your kitchen cabinets when you decide to remodel your kitchen. The last thing you want is for your kitchen to look amazing, except for your old, dingy cabinets.

Plus, you’ll be able to choose custom made options to fit any layout you have in mind. If your cabinets are still in good shape, consider donating them to a local charity or thrift store that accepts furniture.

7. They Don’t Function Well Anymore

This one is likely the most obvious out of all of the reasons. Do your doors stay slightly ajar even when the cabinet is empty? Are the hinges starting to detach or stick? Maybe the drawers sit at a weird angle. Whatever the problem might be, when your cabinets start functioning like they should, it’s a clear sign it’s time to replace them. Your kitchen cabinets should help you, not stop you from getting things done.

Base vs Hanging Cabinets

So, you’ve found yourself in a position where you need or want new cabinets in your home. The first big choice you need to make is deciding if you want cabinets that sit flush with the floor, or ones that hang from higher up on the wall. Each has its own positives and negatives. A base cabinet will grab the most attention and give you more practical and useable space, while a hanging cabinet will allow you to work around windows and put up attractive backsplashes. It’s much easier to have a cabinet on ground level

Span across a large area, with hanging cabinets windows and other things tend to get in the way when you want to add any real width. Not so fast though, you may think that’s the only real choice you need to make, but you’re mistaken! One last little note about hanging cabinets, you’re not limited to just using wood, you can use other materials to really make it pop visually or to give you that extra storage or functionality that you want. For example, you can utilize glass shelving in your hanging cabinet to really show off those crystal wine glasses, while keeping all the functionality of any normal cabinet.

Cabinet Organizational ToolsDrawers vs Doors

The next design feature you should think about after you choose the main style of cabinet you want is if you want drawers or doors. Just like all things, each has its own good and bad parts! A drawer will offer you the easiest access, as you merely have to pull it out to have access to whatever it is you may want. At the same time though, it’ll be hard to fit oversized or strangely shaped cooking gear into your drawers, it could end up wasting more space than it saves depending on your situation. Also, drawers won’t work in any kind of cabinet you have sitting above eye level, as you won’t be able to see into them to get what you need! Doors on the other hand are perfect for fitting in any weirdly shaped things, as you have all the room you could need to move about and fit things. One thing that drawers can now do better than doors though is allow you to organize your things. You can build or purchase accessories that allow you to neatly organize anything you could be putting in them; from pans to plastic containers!

Stuck Trying To Decide Between Two Different Styles?

Well, you don’t at all HAVE to stay consistent through the house, even in the same room you are more than welcome to have different styles going on! For instance, you can have different cabinet styles directly next to one another, you can use different stains on different sections, and it’s even fun to experiment with all different types of mediums when finalizing your cabinets with shelving or storage. If you’re trying to figure out the cabinet situation in your home office, look no further than our helpful article on that!

Space In Your Cabinets

Who doesn’t have space issues when it comes to their cabinets? What if you could double the space in your cabinets with a few simple tricks?

It’s actually possible. From gadgets to custom shelving, you could go from a cluttered mess to neatly organized cabinets that you’re not afraid to open.

The best part is you’ll be able to store even more in them. If you struggle with space, try implementing a few of these and stop just wishing things would fit right.

1. Look Under Your Cabinets

Most cabinets just have a baseboard running along the bottom. While it’s not much space, imagine how much you could store if you had slide-out drawers instead. Under-cabinet storage means customizing your cabinets, but you gain extra space for pans, baking sheets, small boxes (such as foil and freezer bags) and even small cleaning supplies. Try having this built-in during your next remodel.

2. Utilize The Sides

Do you have exposed sides on your cabinets? Odds are, the sides are exposed around your window and sink at least. This is the perfect place to add some open shelving to store frequently used items. You can also hang items, such as your favorite frying pan. When done right, you get more space in your cabinets by storing some items just outside the cabinet.

3. Use Drawer Organizers

Drawer organizers are probably one of the best ways to gain space in your cabinets. For instance, if you have a deeper drawer, use two thinner organizers stacked on top of each other to separate your everyday cutlery from your special occasion cutlery. Of course, you don’t have to stick with just the standard drawer organizer.

Use small mesh baskets for deeper drawers and cabinet shelves. Utilize plastic food containers to prevent items from falling over, leading to far more space.

4. Hang Pots And Pans If Possible

Whenever possible, hang up your pots and pans. While it’s not possible in every kitchen, hanging up your most frequently used pots and pans easily doubles the space in your cabinets. Plus, you don’t have to dig through a stack of pans to find the one you need.

If this isn’t an option, have pot/pan racks built into your cabinets. This keeps them stacked neatly. You get more space and less hassle.

5. Add An Open Plate Rack

Do you use the space above your window? Try turning it into an open plate rack. You can easily store a dozen plates in a small rack. Of course, you could also stack your most used plates and bowls in open shelves on the outside of your cabinets. This approach also works with wine glasses.

6. Use Rolling Or Sliding Shelves

The person who first thought to use sliding shelves inside cabinets was a genius. It’s one of the absolute best ways to get to the things you need and gain more space in your cabinets. For instance, you would need taller shelves to reach the back items in most cases. With rolling or sliding shelves, the shelves are closer together and you just slide out the shelf you need to reach the items you want.

7. Put Doors To Good Use

There’s typically a gap between the inside of the door and your shelves. Why waste this valuable space? It’s ideal for storing small items, like spices. You could also hang large utensils, such as spatulas. While you don’t want to hang anything overly heavy, it’s a dream come true for small items. You’d be surprised at just how much space those items tend to take up.

8. Use Undershelf Baskets

Remember those taller shelves we talked about? If adding rolling shelves isn’t an option, try undershelf baskets. These attach to the underside of your shelves. If you’re storing mainly small items on a shelf, you have ample space to store more. Think of these baskets as added shelves. You can easily double the space in your cabinets by adding baskets to each one.

Are the gears turning about all the ways you could double your cabinet space? Contact us today to find out how to implement these ideas and more.

Kitchen Cabinetry Trends

If you’re thinking of remodeling your kitchen in 2018, you might want to consider the latest kitchen cabinetry trends.

With a wide range of trends to choose from, it’s easy to get the perfect kitchen to match your style and personality. Of course, the most important thing to remember is to always go with a style that you’ll love for years to come.

From keeping things hidden to gorgeous accessories, 2018 is full of trends to make your kitchen a one of a kind masterpiece.

Multi-Color Designs

Usually, you see kitchen cabinets in a single color. One of the more quirky kitchen cabinetry trends of 2018 is multi-color designs. For instance, you might go with a sea green and burgundy color scheme where inner door panels are one color and the rest of the cabinet the other.

Some kitchens feature the design where only the island is a different color. Others only use a varying color on the baseboards and trim. If you’re struggling to find the right color combo, This Old House has some inspiring combos to consider.

More Than Shelves

Why stop at just shelves behind your cabinet doors? Instead, consider pull-out drawers, spice racks, dish organizers and anything else you desire. The idea is to use your cabinets to better organize your kitchen and keep your counters clutter free. Sometimes, you’ll need more than shelves to accomplish this.

Neutral Tones

Neutral tones is actually an on-going trend, but it’s one that’s still popular going into 2018. Instead of traditional wood tone colors, neutral tones help brighten a kitchen and make it look larger. It’s the perfect trend for smaller kitchens that want to give the illusion of more space. White, gray and other light colors are always great choices.

Hidden Appliances

It’s hard to imagine walking into a kitchen and not immediately having your eyes drawn to the refrigerator. However, one of the biggest kitchen cabinetry trends of 2018 is going to hidden appliances. Smaller appliances, such as toasters and coffee makers will have dedicated cabinets. Your microwave and refrigerator will be hidden behind special doors designed to blend into your cabinets.

For a cleaner look and to confuse your guests, it’s a trend you’ll definitely want to consider. It’s even better if you also have a refrigerator that tends to collect fingerprints.

Display Cases

You don’t have to add in a china cabinet to display your best crystal or cute kitchen collectibles. Instead, try a new trend. Turn a few cabinets into display cases. Instead of standard doors, use glass paneled doors to provide a window to the cabinet. For taller kitchens, you could even consider having a row of small display cabinets that line the top. A little back lighting adds a classy effect and makes your kitchen both functional and decorative.

Reaching The Ceiling

How often do you wish you had more cabinet space? If you’re like most people and answered yes, you’ll love this next trend. Instead of large trim around the tops of your cabinets or just empty space that gets filled with odds and ends and dust, take your cabinets all the way to the ceiling.

You’ll usually gain a least an inch or two of extra space. While it might not sound like much, you’d be surprised at how much more you’ll be able to fit in. Plus, you won’t have to dust the empty space any more.

Shelves Versus Cabinets

One of the more unique kitchen cabinetry trends of 2018 is free-standing shelving. For items you use often, you might consider having open shelving in place of some cabinets. The shelves could be used just for displaying cute things you’ve collected or the plates and pots you use every single day. You could even place them next to a window and use the shelves to hold pots of fresh herbs. This is a highly versatile trend you could use for any number of things.

You don’t have to give up traditional cabinets though. Even replacing just a slim vertical cabinet with shelves gives you plenty of new ways to organize your kitchen.

Quartz Countertops

Quartz is starting to appear more and more on kitchen counters. Unlike granite, quartz isn’t porous, which means anything you spill on your cabinet isn’t going to become a life-long resident of your counter. It’s only recently that quartz has been designed to give the same kind of flair to your kitchen as granite.

With counters that are easier to keep clean, it’s the ideal trend to try during your next remodel. Keep an eye out for increasingly more quartz designs.

Smarter Storage

The trend towards smarter storage is a welcome one. Instead of just having a bunch of cabinets with shelves, turn your cabinets into organizational tools that work for you. For instance, have drawers with built-in dividers versus buying plastic dividers later. Replace a cabinet with a wine cabinet. Have small racks built into the doors for storing pot lids, spices and cooking utensils.

Be creative. The more ways you can customize your cabinets to keep your kitchen and counters clutter-free, the better.

Furniture Meets Cabinets

If you’ve always thought kitchen cabinets seemed kind of plain, you’ll be amazed at some of the kitchen cabinetry trends that are spicing up the design. For instance, islands are getting carved feet, much like elegant chairs. An open shelving area might have a decorative arch to add some flair. Gorgeous carved moldings make standard cabinet trim just seem boring.

When you start thinking of your cabinets more like furniture, it’s easy to see unique ways to accessorize them. It’ll also add some elegance to your kitchen.

Turn Dining Into Storage

Kitchens are becoming more open and including dining areas. Why not embrace this latest trend and turn your dining area into extra cabinet storage? Yes, instead of an open table, you have more of a kitchen island style table. The island sinks in to provide space for chairs or stools.

To avoid anyone getting a leg caught on a handle, use recessed handles within the doors. This is a great place to store smaller appliances you don’t use often or bulkier cookware. When designed right, no one even has to know they’re sitting at cabinets. You need a table anyway, so combine table and cabinets to save space.

Considering using any of these kitchen cabinetry trends in your new kitchen? Contact us to find out the best ways to implement these in your home.
